Established in 1998 (AB 560, Perata, Ch. 753), RDHAPs are Registered Dental Hygienists in Alternative Practice who receive specialized education and training to provide dental hygiene care to elderly and disabled populations independently outside the traditional dental office in order to reach underserved populations who were going without oral healthcare.

We are allowed to offer our services by traveling to our patients and in a dental hygiene practice.

Our
Services

Oral Health Assessment
Oral assessment using dental x-rays, intraoral photos, salivary testing, and periodontal charting to determine your periodontal (gum) condition and proper treatment plan. Dentist referral given upon patient request or if possible need for further treatment beyond my scope of practice is determined.
Prophylaxis
A preventive cleaning to help keep your teeth and gingiva healthy. Healthy gingiva or mild gingivitis (gum inflammation) without bone loss may be present.
Scaling & Root Planing (SRP)
Non-surgical periodontal treatment also known as “deep cleaning” necessary when a patient has bone loss and active periodontal disease characterized by painful gum inflammation, bleeding, dental calculus build-up, and bad odor.
Personalized Oral Health Plan
Every appointment your oral care plan is reviewed to ensure your care plan covers your current concerns since oral health can change from time to time.
Periodontal Maintenance
Maintenance cleaning with a frequency of 3 to 4 months that patient is permanently on after SRP is completed. After SRP patient is no longer qualified for prophylaxis since the treatment is no longer disease preventive but disease managing.
Dental Sealants
A thin, clear, plastic coating that protects the chewing surfaces of back teeth (molars) from cavities by preventing food and bacteria from getting stuck in pits and grooves. Both children and adults benefit from protecting their teeth.
